New Work Begun
Pastor Dr. Terry L. Coomer is a veteran church planter and has successfully pastored for more than 30 years. In March, 2009 the Lord began to burden Pastor Coomer’s heart about another area of the country that needed spiritual help. It was his desire to look at a Metro area in the Southern part of the United States. After several trips to Little Rock, Arkansas, Pastor Coomer was moved by the great need of this area of the country for a sound Independent-Traditional-Conservative Baptist church. The need of the area was to establish a church that had an emphasis on winning the lost and to disciple them, was sound doctrinally, had an emphasis on preaching and teaching the Bible expositionally, practiced Biblical separation, practiced traditional, worshipful, conservative church music, and to encourage godly, mature, and spirit controlled behavior in the lives of believers. Pastor Coomer felt there was a need for a church which was fundamental in both doctrine and practice. On February 2, 2010, Pastor Coomer met with a small group of believers in the Hampton Inn in North Little Rock because of their desire to see such a church established in the North Little Rock-Sherwood area. On February 2, 2010, Hope Baptist Church was established and the first service was Wednesday evening, February 3, 2010. The first Sunday service was held on February 7, 2010. God marveously provided a new church building with the church purchasing their current building at 139 Shadow Oaks Dr., Sherwood, Arkansas. The first Sunday service in the new building was held on May 30, 2010.
Pastor Coomer and his wife Kim are veteran church planters and Pastor Coomer has successfully pastored five different churches. Hope Baptist Church was supported by several other Independent Baptist churches across the country.
